Garden bench in Douglas fir
A popular garden bench redesigned with a more relaxed seating angle. That makes it a lounge bench rather than a standard garden seat. Solid wood, visible joinery.

The starting point was a common garden bench that stops being comfortable after twenty minutes. For this version the seat is tilted back 8° and the backrest leans a further 5°. The difference is immediate: the lower back gets support without the bench becoming a lounge chair.
The bench is solid Douglas fir, usable outdoors without impregnation. The seat consists of two wide planks and the joinery stays visible. Left untreated, the wood greys evenly.
Why those eight degrees make the difference is in the journal.
