Materials & Finishes
Material choice determines lifespan, maintenance and how an object ages. These are the materials I work with.
Aspen
Thermally treated for sauna use: dimensionally stable at high temperature and splinter-free.
Birch plywood
Stable sheet material used as structural base. Not visible in the finished piece — a functional part of the build-up.
Douglas fir
Chosen over larch for its availability in trade dimensions and uniform greying. Strong enough for outdoor use without chemical treatment.
European oak
Stable, strong and easy to work. Ages gracefully to grey-gold without treatment. Used for interior furniture where warmth and longevity matter.
PIR insulation
Thermal insulation board with high R-value per mm thickness. Chosen for its compactness and anti-condensation effect in closed constructions.
Walnut
Dark, warm and tight-grained. Suitable for objects where material quality must be directly visible.
