Wood-fired outdoor sauna in Douglas fir
An outdoor sauna for a small garden. Douglas and aspen, wood-fired, compact in build. Compact in build, so it fits a small garden.
Material finish
The sauna is built as one system: structure, benches, stove and lighting were designed together, not added afterwards.
Douglas fir outside, which greys evenly when left untreated. Thermally treated aspen inside: stable at high temperatures and never too hot to touch.
The stove is wood-fired, around 5 kW. Firing it and building temperature takes time; that slow rhythm is part of the use.
The footprint is 2.00 × 1.60 m, compact enough for a small garden. The benches are built from aspen slats and carry part of the structure. The lighting is indirect and follows the lines of the interior.
